Liverpool They put their defeat to Nottingham Forest behind them by beating AC Milan in the Champions League Just three days later, the Reds will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they take on Bournemouth at Anfield on June 12. Premier LeagueThe fifth round match will be played on Saturday.
With three points needed to ensure their title hopes are not damaged too early in the campaign, here's a look at the starting XI Arne Slot is likely to employ:
Goalkeeper – Alisson Becker will keep his place in goal. There is no reason for him to be on the bench and the Brazilian will be looking for his fourth clean sheet in five Premier League games this season against the Cherries.
Defenders – Liverpool have conceded just two goals in all competitions this season and that has been thanks to a fabulous defensive foundation. Trent Alexander-Arnold will keep his place in the starting XI, while Andy Robertson is likely to return to the team after Konstantinos Tsimikas played in the Champions League match.
There will be no changes at the heart of the defence with Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk returning as starters.
Diaz will return in place of Gakpo
Midfielders – Ryan Gravenberch was brilliant against AC Milan and will have the chance to continue his good run of form against Bournemouth. The Dutchman will form the usual double pivot partner alongside Alexis Mac Allister in the centre of Liverpool's team.
Mohamed Salah The Egyptian has hit the post twice against Milan and remains without a goal in two consecutive games, but he is expected to break his brief drought with a goal against Bournemouth as he will start on the right flank.
Luis Diaz will replace Cody Gakpo on the left wing, having been rested against the Rossoneri in midweek. Dominik Szoboszlai scored his first goal of the season against Milan and will also feature against Bournemouth in his usual attacking midfield position.
Forward – Diogo Jota has gone three games in a row without scoring after starting the season with two goals in two outings. However, he appears to be Arne Slot's chosen number 9 and will keep his place in Liverpool's starting lineup against Bournemouth.
