Schalke must take significant saving measures to avoid a points deduction next season

Sport Bild (via @SchalkeNews_S04) reports that Schalke must take significant saving measures to make a profit this year to avoid a points deduction from the DFL next season.

Savings are likely to come from some of the smallest things involved in day-to-day life at the club. When it comes to the General meeting later on this season there will be cuts in the stage and on security as well as fewer voting machines.

When it comes to the players they are likely to receive less advice when it comes to their nutrition. Currently, they receive continuous support but the idea is that the players will receive detailed training around the topic at the start of the season before being supported less. While their travelling is also expected to be changed with the players likely to now stay in cheaper hotels especially when it comes to their pre-season and winter training camps.

Jobs could also be at stake with Schalke looking at either reducing or abolishing their international social media channels.

Finally, Schalke are involved in allowing US youth players to spend some time in the Ruhr and training with the Königsblau’s youth teams, but this is likely to be abolished.

Schalke’s financial struggles are well documented especially if the club are relegated to the 3.Liga. So the next few weeks on and off the pitch will be crucial for one of Germany’s biggest teams as they currently sit only two points clear of the relegation places with seven games of the season left.
