Chelsea considers Tottenham Hotspur stadium designers as £2bn Stamford Bridge project remains in limbo

Chelsea could reportedly take inspiration from rivals Tottenham as they continue to mull over the Stamford Bridge redevelopment.

The Blues They have played at their west London home since their inception in 1905, with a current capacity of 40,341.

It is the lowest figure of all the 'Big Six' of the Premier League and the club has already done it preparations began to remodel the stadium.

However the Evening Standard reports that Chelsea have not yet fully decided on their plans, with a complete rebuild, a stand-by-stand renovation or a move being considered.

Although all three options are still on the table, the Blues could follow in the footsteps of Spurs with his plans for the new stadium.

The report says they have contacted architecture and design studio Populous, which specializes in stadiums and sports facilities.

Populous were the architects of the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, with a total construction cost of around £1 billion.

It was built on the same site as Spurs' previous home, White Hart Lane, and the club's capacity increased from 36,284 to 62,850.

The NFL team's Buffalo Bills will also have their new stadium designed by Populous, with the 62,000-seat venue set to open in 2026.

While Chelsea are looking at potential designers, they have opted to put CEO Chris Jurasek and COO Jason Gannon at the helm of the plans.

Co-owner Jonathan Goldstein was previously run by Janet Marie Smith, the stadium architect for the LA Dodgers, who are also owned by Todd Boehly.

His involvement has now been “paused,” with Gannon emerging as a pivotal figure in plans following his job as general manager of Los Angeles' world-famous SoFi stadium.

Chelsea previously announced plans in 2014 to expand Stamford Bridge but nothing materialized.

The new expansion proposals could cost around £2bn and, once completed, capacity could rise to 60,000.

If large-scale new construction takes place, then Chelsea could move to Wembley for the duration of the work.

He has also been rumored to be ground-sharing with west London neighbours, Fulham, although this could be an unlikely move.

England's Twickenham rugby stadium is another potential option, but the Rugby Football Union previously rejected the possibility of hosting football there.
