The Getafe star criticizes the abuse received by his teammate and Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood

On Wednesday, Getafe were punished with a fine and partial stadium closure after Marcos Acuna was subjected to racist abuse during Sevilla's 1-0 win at the Coliseum last weekend. It's another dark episode for Spanish football, with racism a continued problem in the country's stadiums.

Luis Milla played the entire match against Los Nervionenses, and expressed his extreme disappointment over the incident when he spoke to Cadena SER (via Sports stadium).

“The truth is that I was a little ignorant. We asked Acuna what had happened and he didn't tell us. We always asked him and he told us a little about why. it had happened.

“What is clear is that we have to eradicate these comments, these disrespects and these ways of expression that people have. Not only in the Coliseum, if it happened and if it was like that, then we have to stop and in other fields do the same. This is the reality.”

Milla was also critical of the abuse received from Getafe teammate Mason Greenwood throughout this season.

“There are special cases, but I tell you, it's part of the daily life of a footballer. We receive insults every day. Sometimes I was replaced, I left the field and I had to go around in the middle of the camp, and you hear these barbarities, when I have not done anything. Everything has been normalized and it cannot be, this is the reality.”
