As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Technical Director Marco Neppe has left Bayern Munich. The 37-year-old’s contract has been mutually terminated, and his desk already cleared out at Säbener Straße.
The reason for the quick dismissal isn’t known exactly. However, Neppe has received many inquiries from within Germany and abroad. So it’s likely that a new project has got Neppe’s interest and Bayern have allowed him to leave.
Neppe is somewhat of a player favourite at Bayern and still keeps in regular contact with the likes of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka.
During his time at Bayern, Neppe was responsible for the transfer of Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Mathys Tel.
Neppe started his Bayern career back in 2014 as a scout before being promoted to Head of Scouting in 2017. Since 2021, the 37-year-old former footballer has been Techincal Director.
It remains to be seen where Neppe’s next career step will be, but it’s a big loss for Bayern regardless.
