Bild reports that RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo has attracted interest from Manchester City this summer as a release clause becomes active in his contract.
Olmo had originally been linked to a return to boyhood club Barcelona but the €60m release clause on top of his salary which would be around €10m is said to be too much for the Catalan side. Premier League clubs have now begun to show an interest in the Spaniard.
Manchester City are leading the way but Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United have also shown interest in Olmo.
However staying at Leipzig is not ruled out, when asked about Olmo’s future, sporting director Rouven Schröder said: “Dani is now stable, which makes us totally happy. He feels comfortable and also knows what he has in us. And if he continues to play so consistently, then offers will come in. That’s so, then there is also a balancing process with all parties involved.”
Olmo started the season off strongly with a hat-trick in the DFL Super Cup vs Bayern Munich as well as goals against Bayer Leverkusen and VfB Stuttgart in the opening games of the campaign but injury quickly rerailed this form and the 25-year-old has struggled to replicate it ever since due to the constant on and off nature of his season.
