Tottenham have suffered an injury blow, with Richarlison to miss Sunday’s game at home to Nottingham Forest

Richarlison has featured as a substitute in Tottenham’s last three league games as part of the club’s efforts to get him back to full sharpness.

However, the forward will now be given time off in a bid to boost his recovery from a knee problem.

Tottenham are in fifth place in the Premier League and are two points behind fourth placed Aston Villa with a game in hand.

Richarlison has made a significant contribution this season as he has scored 10 goals in 25 Premier League appearances.

While Richarlison will be unavailable against Forest, Tottenham will be able to call upon Brennan Johnson.

Johnson went off in the closing stages of Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with West Ham and was subsequently seen with bandaging around his knee.

However, Postecoglou stressed that Johnson, who found the net against the Hammers, will be fit to face his former club Forest.

Postecoglou said: ‘Brennan is fine. There’s no problem.

‘The only one is Richy. He’s had a bit of a niggle with his knee these last few weeks. We figured it is kind of best he takes this weekend off and gets ready for Newcastle next.’

Having won one, drawn one and lost one of their last three Premier League games, Tottenham will be looking for greater consistency in the closing stages of the campaign.
