Unai Emery had mixed emotions after Aston Villa’s dramatic 3-3 draw against Brentford.

The Villans were firmly in control early in the second period thanks to goals from Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers, his first for the club, either side of half-time.

But three goals inside nine manic minutes from Mathias Zanka, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa turned the match around and ensured the Bees led 3-2.

Villa pushed for a leveller and Watkins’ 80th-minute header, his 24th goal of the season, ensured it finished a point apiece at Villa Park.

And head coach Emery was in reflective mood after the match.

“I have in mind, two sides, one negative and another positive,” he told VillaTV.

“The positive is more than the negative because we’re on matchday 32 with 60 points.

“And we played here in the first 45 minutes, in the second half the first 15 minutes, and after their third goal we reacted very well and played fantastic trying to win the match and trying to come back from a bad result.

“But in 10 minutes we lost a lot of things, it was really incredible, incredible, because we were really being consistent.

“The atmosphere here was fantastic, the first half was fantastic and afterwards the reaction of the supporters was fantastic.

“But playing over 90 minutes, with 75 minutes in control of the game and being better, playing better, controlling more than them and creating chances.

“And in 10 minutes you can lose everything you did, really, I have to analyse and be demanding myself to correct quickly.”
