Wolves boss Gary O'Neil details 'three crazy incidents' against West Ham after controversial VAR call overturns vital draw

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil once again looked exasperated at refereeing in the Premier League as his team lost 2-1 to West Ham.

His team had a late equalizer against West Ham disallowed with the help of VAR as Tawanda Chirewa was deemed to have prevented Lukasz Fabianski when Max Kilman headed home from a corner.

It is not the first time that the Wolves feel mistreated.

At the beginning of the season, Referee Simon Hooper demoted for not giving them a penalty for a foul by André Onana in the 1-0 defeat against manchester united.

Meanwhile, there were controversial incidents in games with Newcastle, Sheffield Unitedand Fulham.

And O'Neil, who proclaimed himself West Ham coach David Moyes and his goalkeeper Fabianski agreed, he was again unhappy, although he also conceded two other moments from his own team that infuriated him.

He told talkSPORT: “We scored a good goal and it was disallowed. That's it.”

“I know why. If your knowledge of football is quite poor, you can come to the conclusion that it's offside.

“I hope referees at this level are much better at knowing better, especially with a screen and slow motion in front of them. Unfortunately that's not the case.

“I think David Moyes agrees with me. (Lukasz) Fabianski agreed with me. I haven't spoken to many people who disagree with me. Really disappointed.

“I feel absolutely gutted tonight about three crazy incidents that happened during the game.

“The first on our part, giving away the ball and giving away the penalty like we did.

“Secondly, the goal coming directly from a corner, something that never happens.

“And thirdly, the VAR call has made us lose a game that we definitely did not deserve to lose.”

O'Neil later clarified why he believed the decision to disallow Kilman's goal was incorrect.

“I can explain it too,” he added. “For Tawanda (Chirewa) to interfere, she would have to be impeding Fabianski's movement or his point of view.

“When you look at the side camera you can see that Fabianski can clearly see the ball over Tawanda's head. So it doesn't prevent him from seeing.

“It's not impeding his ability to move and everyone knows that Fabianski doesn't come close to that header, regardless of whether Tawanda is there or next to (José) Sa. Fabianski doesn't come close to that header.

“Really strange decision. Heartbreaking for the players and the group because it would have been a very close point.

“I still think we deserve three. I think the numbers would suggest we deserve three.

“I understand West Ham have found their way back into the game, as they should with the players they have at their disposal.

“We fought as hard as we could. We gave the best performance we could, but unfortunately it wasn't enough.”
