Aston Villa succumbed to a 4-1 defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Jhon Durán’s low finish at the end of a superb flowing team move cancelled out Rodri’s opener and put Villa back on level terms in the 20th minute.
But Phil Foden’s free-kick in first-half injury time restored the home side’s advantage, before the England international added a quickfire brace after the restart to complete his hat-trick.
It was a first away defeat of 2024 for Villa, who saw their eight-match unbeaten run on the road come to an end.
