Senior Real Madrid midfielder Steve McManaman he praised by Xabi Alonso decision to stay at Bayer Leverkusen this summer.
Alonso is on the brink of leading Leverkusen to their first Bundesliga title in the coming weeks alongside a potential treble with the DfB Pokal and UEFA Europa League.
His stock has risen in the last 12 months with rumors of a return to Madrid to replace him Carlo Ancelotti.
However, Ancelotti's extension until 2026 blocked that rumor for now, with Liverpool after looking for Alonso.

Alonso's own contract at Leverkusen also runs until 2026, in a mirror to Ancelotti, and all parties will be watching his progress next season as Leverkusen aim to defend their crown.
