Ashley Young couldn't help but smile when asked about Nottingham Forest's penalty appeals against Everton.

The Toffees defender was at the center of the drama after being involved in three potential penalty incidents at Goodison Park, including a scream before half-time when the ball hit his outstretched arm on the pitch. Everton box.

Meanwhile, in separate incidents, Young escaped punishment for hitting Gio Reyna inside the Everton box in the first half, as well as for colliding with Callum Hudson-Odoi inside the Everton box after the break.

These failed penalty shouts led to Nottingham Forest publish a sensational statement about X in which accused PGMOL of deploying Luton Town fan in VAR for the match that ended 2-0 against Everton.

The post read: “Three extremely poor decisions, three penalties not imposed, that we simply cannot accept.

“We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the match but they did not change it. Our patience has been tested several times. The NFFC will now consider its options.”

Knowing that the incidents had caused quite a stir on social media, Young participated in an interview published on Everton's official media channel. and gave a somewhat timid response when asked for his opinion on the incidents.

When asked about Nottingham Forest's penalty appeals, Young replied: “They were all right”, with what appeared to be a wry smile on his face.

When asked specifically about the challenge on Hudson-Odoi, Young responded: “None of them were delivered, right?”

Young then flashed another smile, to which the journalist asked, “What does that face say?” to which Young responded: “He's saying that none of them were handed over.”

“I think they were complaining about everything. Obviously we were talking during the game and I thought the referee got it right.”

With this result, Sean Dyche's team is five points clear of the relegation zone, while Forest is just one point above Luton Town, which occupies 18th place.

Forest are also facing an FA investigation amid a statement that questioned the integrity of a match referee.
