Liverpool they are supposedly interested in signing Chelsea star Levi Colwill this summer, according to the transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.

After coming through the Blues' youth system, the 21-year-old came into the spotlight following a promising loan spell at Brighton and Hove Albion last season.

The Englishman attracted a lot of attention from several English clubs last summer, with Liverpool being one of those to show interest. However, Colwill ultimately opted to remain at his boyhood club by signing a new contract.

Now, Exterior wall has reported about TBR Football that despite failing to acquire Colwill last summer, Liverpool have not given up hope of signing him. The journalist further claims that the Reds have “remained in touch” with the Blues to let them know that they are willing to sign the defender if Mauricio Pochettino's side capitalize on him in the off-season.

Exterior wall He also claims that the defender is valued at around £40million and it remains to be seen if the west London club let their star leave for that price.

Colwill to Liverpool

The journalist says that although Chelsea insist they do not want to sell Colwill this summer, they desperately need to sell some stars to balance the books after spending more than £1 billion in recent years.

It has also been reported that Colwill is a homegrown talent so his departure will be a pure gain for Chelsea so they can cash in on him and in that case Liverpool could sign their key defensive target.

Liverpool are apparently prioritizing strengthening their defensive line this summer and are planning to buy a left-footed centre-back, as they have been linked with a few names of late. Gonçalo Inácio and Willian Pacho have been mentioned as serious targets, but Colwill now emerges as a key option.

The Chelsea star has center-back characteristics, but can also play in the left-back position. He is a highly talented player and has the potential to become a top-level defender in the future.

Therefore, it would be a big coup for Liverpool if they bought him. However, it will be interesting to see if the Anfield club will finally be able to sign him in the next window to strengthen their defensive line.
