Gary Shaw made a trip to the south coast on behalf of the Aston Villa Former Players Club last week.
Our League Championship and European Cup hero travelled to Bournemouth to deliver some gifts to Peter McParland ahead of the former Northern Ireland international’s 90th birthday on Thursday.
Villa legend McParland was the man who scored both goals when the club beat Manchester United in the 1957 FA Cup final and is the only survivor from our Wembley line-up.
He also netted the winning goal when we won the inaugural League Cup final over two legs against Rotherham United in 1961 and scored a total of 121 goals in 341 Villa games.
Happy birthday, Peter!
