Arsenal record broken as fans rave about 'next big thing' after seven goals

Chido Obi-Martin has broken Folarin Balogun's Arsenal academy record by scoring SEVEN goals against Norwich under-18s.

With this, the 16-year-old has broken the record for most goals scored in a single season for the under-18 team with 28 in total.

The Denmark youth international has been dubbed as ArsenalThe 'next big thing' after his scoring exploits this campaign.

He found the back of the net ten times against Liverpool U16s in a 14-3 win earlier in the season, before moving up a level.

And he has made a mockery of the under-18 Premier League with 28 goals, 25 of them in his last nine games.

balogunwho was sold to Monaco last summer in a deal worth £35m, was Arsenal's previous under-18 record holder with 25 goals.

He established this during the 2018/19 season, where he played 19 games as a second-year scholarship player.

In the contract, Obi-Martin still has schoolboy conditions and has participated in four fewer games than the US international.

Incredibly, the teenager has scored at least one hat-trick for the fifth time this campaign for the under-18s.

Meanwhile, Obi-Martin scored four goals against Crystal Palace and Fulham, while he scored five against West Ham earlier this month.

And he continued his devastating form with five goals in the first half against the Canaries, before adding two more goals in the second half as Arsenal claimed a 9-0 victory.

Arsenal fans were once again quick to wax lyrical about the centre-forward, as one X user said: “This Martin-Obi could be the next big thing!”

Another posted: “Martin-Obi is the future.”

A third joked: “Can we put him in the lead for tomorrow?”

This Gooner added: “This kid needs to be in the first team next season.”

One of them joked: “Who needs a striker when you have Martín?”

Meanwhile, this fan simply stated: “The future is scary, but not for us.”
