River Plate are considering a summer move for the Athletic Club legend

Earlier this week, Iker Muniain announced that he will leave Athletic Club at the end of the season, having decided to sign a new contract. He will end his 15-year stay in the first team, and will undoubtedly leave as a Los Leones legend.

Muniain is looking forward to a new challenge at this stage of his career, and is said to want to sign for River Plate, who he is a big fan of. The South American giants are aware of this, and second AS Diarythey will consider a move for him when his Athletic contract comes to an end.

However, it won't be easy, as River are only allowed six non-Argentine players in their squad. They already have five who will be here for next season, and their priority is to sign a new striker, which has priority over any other deal, including a possible one for Muniain.

The 31-year-old is prioritizing the river over any other destination, so it remains to be seen whether he will hold out. He has also been linked with MLS, although for now, his main focus is to finish strong Athletic Club.
