He repeatedly said, “You're not allowed to do that.”

Explaining it all, Groves told talkSPORT Drive: “When Kai Havertz scored the third goal, I celebrated and pumped my fist. Someone has filmed it and in fact the YouTuber who did it, I took a selfie with him during the break. In fact, he thought it was pretty funny.

“This upset some Spurs fans behind me, which I understand. Everyone knows I'm a Gooner and I get excited when I watch Arsenal play.

“I want Arsenal to win. Any game I comment on has to be balanced.

“Everyone knows I'm a big Gooner and everyone knows that when I go to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, I want Arsenal to win.

“But when I comment, I have to be balanced because even when they were coming at us I was saying that, when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg scored the own goal, Spurs were on top and it was against the run of play.

“I can't help that emotion. I can't just sit there and say, 'Oh look, we just went 3-0 up.' That's pretty good.' That's impossible.”

Groves admitted that he understood the reaction of the Tottenham fans.

On the reaction from Spurs fans, he said: “Yeah, I get it. They are as involved and excited in the game as I am.

“I said I'm sorry, I got a little carried away. I must say that the stewards at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium were absolutely brilliant.

“I think they're trying to convert me!

“The guy who posted it was a bit ironic. “Everyone knows I'm a Gooner.”
