Mauricio Pochettino says he is not involved in Conor Gallagher decision as Chelsea star faces uncertain future
Mauricio Pochettino admits he knows nothing about Conor Gallagher's future at Chelsea.
The midfielder is a major talking point heading into the summer as his contract with the club reaches its final 12 months.
With Chelsea Under pressure to balance the books, selling Gallagher could be an attractive option for the club's hierarchy.
This is because the sale of the academy graduate was marked as “pure profit”, as it seeks to meet profit and sustainability standards.
On the field, Gallagher has been one of Chelsea's main stars this season, having made 46 appearances in all competitions.
He provided the assist for the first goal, scored by Trevoh Chalobah, in Chelsea's 2-0 win over Tottenham on Thursday night.
Having worn the captain's armband 23 times this season, it is clear how highly Pochettino rates Gallagher, but according to the Argentine coach, the final decision on the midfielder's future will not be his.
Asked about his future, Pochettino explained: “I'm not involved. I don't know anything.”
Speaking of its importance, he added: “You can see it. My starting eleven, throughout the season has always been there, in all circumstances, it is always there.”
“I am not involved in the decision. It is a situation that must be resolved between the club and the player.”

Pochettino's comments came after Chelsea raised their hopes of an unlikely European finish with victory over their London rivals.
The victory moved the Blues within three points of the Premier League's top six, while Spurs are seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, having played a game less.
