Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart are expected to make changes to their sporting director role in the coming weeks.
Current sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth who has done an excellent job since being hired in 2022 will be promoted and become part of the board. The supervisory board at the MHP Arena have already decieded this.
Wohlgemuth has been one of the key players in Stuttgart’s turn around, having been important in bringing Sebastien Hoeneß to the club at the back end of last season, whilst also being involved in the signing of players in the summer sich as Angelo Stiller and Deniz Undav.
The next quesiton is who will replace Wohlgemuth as sporting director, the answer is Christian Gentner. The former player is currently head of first team football at Stuttgart but has taken up a bigger role in scotuing and squad planning in the last 18 months.
Stuttgart are also looking at potentially creating another position to work in tandem with Gentner with Elversberg CEO Nils-Ole Book under consideration.
