The Real Betis Manager Manuel Pellegrini said he was not happy with Brazil defender Luiz Felipe's move in September after he was sold to Saudi Arabia outside the transfer window. He could be about to lose another cornerstone of his defense this summer, although he should have more time to replace him.
According to ESPN, via EDRiver Plate are interested in signing him Pezella, and want to make a deal for a little less than his release clause of 4 million euros this summer. The 33-year-old is open to a move, despite renewing his deal with Betis until 2026 in February. Clearly, this would mean a return to his native Argentina, and it would be hard to deny a loyal servant moving on at the end of his career.
One in hand, it would make financial sense to let Pezzella go if they can get a fee for a veteran defender. However, the cost of replacing Pezzella is likely to be greater than what they will bring for him, in a summer where Betis do not look like they will be out for money again.
