Graham Potter has rejected an approach from Ajax because he is a “genuine contender” to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United..

That's according to talkSPORT's chief football correspondent Alex Crook, who spoke about the Englishman's future after he turned down the job with the Dutch giants.

“And you wonder if that could be replacing Erik ten Hag At Manchester United?

“He has a fantastic reputation with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, he has a relationship with Daniel Ashworthwho we know will arrive as sports director.

“They worked so well together at Brighton that I think Potter is a real contender if United decide to leave Ten Hag.”

Potter is not the only manager linked to the possible vacancy at the Theater of Dreams in case Ten Hag was relieved of his duties after two years.

england coach Gareth Southgate has been touted as a possible option, as has the former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
