Graham Potter has rejected an approach from Ajax because he is a “genuine contender” to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United..

That's according to talkSPORT's chief football correspondent Alex Crook, who spoke about the Englishman's future after he turned down the job with the Dutch giants.

talkSPORT reported earlier this week how Ajax had conversations reopened with the 48-year-old, who previously shut them down earlier this campaign.

“But you get the sense that he's maybe saving himself for something bigger and better in his eyes.

“And you wonder if that could be replacing Erik ten Hag At Manchester United?
