Van de Beek's move includes an option to buy worth £9.5m but talkSPORT understands Frankfurt are unwilling to unleash it.

He has made just four starts in eight appearances for the club and will now return to United, his agent Guido Albers has confirmed.

The 27-year-old was previously his client before switching to Ali Dursun two years ago, but now the pair are back together.

And in an interview with ESPNAlbers spoke about what the summer has in store for Van de Beek: “I have spoken a lot with him. He is hungry and eager. I am away with Eintracht Frankfurt.

“They still had a purchase option until June 30, but they are not going to exercise it. He returns to Manchester United. Now we are discussing how to take a new step from there.”

Albers then appeared to rule out a move to another Premier League club when he added: “The Premier League is not a good option for him right now.

“In any case, he will not return to Ajax. My preference is to be in Spain, Italy and France. If I could take him to Spain or Italy it would be fantastic.

“He has to go to a club where he will play in 2010, like he played for Ajax. There he showed how fantastic a player he can be.”

His last appearance for United came in a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in September.

This summer could prove crucial for Van de Beek as his contract with United ends in June 2025, which would make him a free agent.

He signed for the Premier League giants in 2020 after a successful season at Ajax in a deal worth £35m plus £5m in add-ons.

However, Van de Beek has endured a difficult time at Old Trafford, making just 62 appearances in all competitions over four seasons.

However, much of his time has been marred by injuries, including a ligament strain that kept him out of action for half of last season.

His loan at Frankfurt was his second spell away from United after spending the first few months of 2022 at Everton, with a permanent exit on the cards for the Dutchman this summer.
