Real Madrid to continue to monitor the situation of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool

Real Madrid look set to hang on to their veteran right-back pair in Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal for at least another season, but that doesn't mean they're giving up on another potential Galactico signing.

Vazquez is out of contract this summer, and it is assumed by many that he will sign a one-year extension at the club. Carvajal, 32, is out of contract in 2025, but it emerged today that Real Madrid will try to renew his business too.

However they will continue to monitor Liverpool's situation Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is also facing a contract situation with the Reds. Alexander-Arnold's deal expires in 2025, and Liverpool I am yet to be tied to a new deal. If Alexander-Arnold does not end up renewing with Liverpool, then it will be a market opportunity that Real Madrid will look at – getting a player of Alexander-Arnold's quality on a free would be something of a coup.

Real Madrid has made it part of its strategy to bring in some of the best players in Europe who are out of contract since the pandemic, starting with David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, and many believe it will continue with Kylian Mbappe this summer. While Carvajal remains an excellent right-back, it would be foolish of Real Madrid not to go for Alexander-Arnold, if this is a possibility, to at least compete with him, in place of an aging Vazquez.
