Julian Brandt has been left out of Germany’s Euro 2024 squad, it has been confirmed.
Brandt joins fellow Borussia Dortmund teammate Mats Hummels on Julian Nagelsmann’s list of people who have been iced out.
The BVB forward has had an impressive end to the season, having played his part in the club’s run all the way to the Champions League final.
So far this season, Brandt has made 25 goal contributions (9 goals and 16 assists) but that isn’t enough to earn a place in the squad.
What’s even more surprising is that Hiedenheim’s Jan-Niklas Beste, who plays a similar role to Brandt, has also been left out.
Nagelsmann had already informed the 28-year-old of the decision prior to the news being shared.
Brandt is said to be thought highly of by Nagelsmann who described the decision at the time as “hardship.”
Apart from Nico Schlotterbeck and Niclas Füllkrug, no other BVB players have yet to be called up to the Germany squad.
