I tried to sign Michael Olise for Newcastle but he turned me down. I think he will thrive at Manchester United.
Michael Olise has a bright future ahead of him if he moves to Manchester United this summer.
That's according to the ex manchester united defender and formerNewcastle manager Steve Bruce.
Man United is one of several clubs that have been Linked with Crystal Palace striker as they await a review of their equipment this summer.
Olise has been hugely impressive this season, scoring ten goals in 18 games for the Eagles – including the brace he scored in the Palace game 4-0 victory about Man United.
And as if Olise wasn't already considered an attractive prospect for a struggling Man United side, Bruce has revealed that the 22-year-old was once on his radar as a manager, along with another Palace star. Eberechi Eze.
He told Betway: “Ironically, I tried to take them both to Newcastle and they both decided they wanted to stay in London.”
But Bruce insisted a move to Man United would be beneficial for Olise, despite the Red Devils having had one of their worst seasons in recent times.
“Every day, the back pages are full of who (United) are going to sign,” he said. “I hope they get that department right. I think the moves they are making above can only help. Certainly, with people like Dan Ashworth, they will.
“When you say young, English, good players in the Premier League, they are the ones that Man Utd thrived with, the ones that they have always done well with.
“I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to buy in the Premier League, because at least then you know what you're going to get.”
After Manchester United 3-2 victory Over Newcastle, they set a new unwanted record: they have conceded more goals than ever in a Premier League season.
Newcastle's two goals took the tally to 58 goals conceded, surpassing the previous record of 57 set in the 2021/22 season.
But Man United will still have a chance to save a FA Cup trophy in their poor season, when they take the field against defending champions Man City in a repeat of last year's final.
And Bruce insisted that the rest of the season was irrelevant as far as this final was concerned and that a Red Devils victory was still within the realm of possibility.
“Hopefully we'll see a match like the semi-final between Coventry and Manchester United!” he said. “I remember taking Hull to the FA Cup final against Arsenal ten years ago. I know there are always buts and buts, but we had a great chance.
“In a single FA Cup final, anything can happen. We know that Manchester United can perform. I have to say that they need their big players to be fit. They must be fit. I know they only have a few weeks and they still have It is going to be very difficult to emerge victorious against Manchester City.
“But it's a Cup final, so they are capable of winning a single game, that's for sure.”
