Mauricio Pochettino has apologised to Chelsea fans and says “we are all not good enough at the moment” after his side’s 4-2 home defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The loss leaves Chelsea 11th in the Premier League, with only nine wins from 23 matches.

It is the second game in a row where Chelsea have conceded four, following Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat at Liverpool.

“We are all not good enough at the moment,” Pochettino said. “That is the reality. Myself also, is the first person responsible for this situation and of course, we showed today that we are not good enough.

“We didn’t manage the situation properly and no one can be safe. I don’t want to come here and say, ‘No, I am the best and the players are the worst’ — we are all responsible.

“The players need to take responsibility like I take responsibility also. At the moment, we are not reflecting the history of the club, that is true and we need to accept it.

“We can apologise to the fans, and then they can (choose whether to) accept. One thing is the perception, another is the reality.

“To understand the fans is really important, and we say we want to apologise and feel sorry. We are disappointed like them but until the end, we need to fight all together.”

Chelsea face Aston Villa away in their FA Cup fourth-round replay on Wednesday, followed by a trip to Crystal Palace in the league next Monday.
