Erik ten Hag has not spoken to Marcus Rashford about the incident with fans but plays down the apparent disconnect with supporters.
Erik ten Hag has told Marcus Rashford and his Man United team-mates to enjoy the responsibility that comes with playing for the club.
The striker was involved in a exchange with a follower during the warm-up for the midweek clash against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.
In the incident, the fan shouted something at Rashford, before the England international walked towards the fan and responded, although it is unclear what was said.
His teammates then took him away and the match day steward told the fan in question to calm down.
In 41 appearances this season, Rashford has scored just eight times and the forward has fallen out of favor with Ten Hag.
But when addressing the criticism leveled at Rashford, Ten Hag has told his players that they must focus on the majority of the fans behind them.

Ten Hag said: “There were 68,000 very positive fans, a great vibe. So it's great to play for this club and Marcus knows that.”
Asked if he had spoken to Rashford about the criticism he has faced, Ten Hag said: “No, not on that specifically.
“But I talk to players often about this, and it happens, and you have to deal with it as a player.
“So, one person is not representative of many, so only one.
“You have to face it, don't react, don't respond. Accept it and move on.”
Manchester United closes its Premier League campaign against Brighton in the hope of securing European football.
They will then face Manchester City in the FA Cup final hoping to claim silverware.
