Alaves defeated Getafe 1-0 in their final home game of the 2023-24 season, which was the perfect way for the hosts to celebrate coach Luis Garcia's contract renewal. However, the downfall of the match was centered around referee Jorge Figueroa Vazquez.
Speaking to DAZN (via Relief) post-match, Getafe Manager Jose Bordalas made some rather serious accusations about what Figueroa Vazquez said during the match at
“The referee said at the end of the game: 'I'm sick of putting this team'. Imagine if it had been said by any player or any coach. Well, we would have been sanctioned. Now, there is no sanction for the referees. That's what we can't understand.
“Then he says, 'I'm tired of this team.' Well, it always happens with this referee. It doesn't happen with anyone else.”
The Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) is likely to respond to the claims of Bordalas in the coming days, and it is not excluded that the League or the Spanish Football Federation are also involved.
