The Dutchman now has livestock covered in each of his two seasons with the Red Devils, but could still be sacked after a dismal season in the Premier League.
talkSPORT reported ahead of Saturday's clash at Wembley that FA Cup victory is not Guaranteed maintenance of the 54-year-old man's job..
And during a tense post-match interview with BBC Sport, Ten Hag was challenged by Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer.
Ten Hag, who struck the English 'junk' press Before United's 2-1 victory at the Home of Football, Lineker asked him if he felt the media criticism of his team had been unfair.
To which he replied: “I think so. The team. Me too. It wasn't good.”
Shearer He then intervened defending the pundits' harsh opinions on United, saying: “Today there was a team that showed great attitude and great skill and won every tackle.
“That hasn't always been the case this season, has it? So you can understand why we criticize sometimes.
“If you'd had that every week, then you wouldn't have finished eighth, because today was amazing.”
This prompted a quick response from the former Ajax bosswho stated: “No, but we didn't have the players.
“And you're right, we've seen the same things, it wasn't always good football, definitely not.
“But we had to make concessions all the time and then you can't play the football you want to play.
“I've been here for two years and we had maybe three or three times with the full team available.
“Also today we were missing great players like Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Casemiro.”
The mystery surrounding Ten Hag's future was the next topic on the agenda, but he refused to shed light on his situation.
He said: “I don't know. The only thing I'm doing is preparing my team, developing my team, progressing my team and my individual players, because this is a project for me.
“When I came in, I can say it was a disaster. Now we are better. We are nowhere near where we want to be.
“Football is about winning trophies. I want to play the best football, dynamic and offensive, but in the end you have to win games and trophies.
“That's the mentality we brought. This was our only chance and we did it. I'm very proud of the players and the staff.”
Ten Hag was serenaded by enthusiastic United fans in the stands, where he single-handedly had the trophy displayed alongside the advertising hoardings.
