Manchester City are open to sell rising star Yan Couto this summer, after an exceptional season at Girona in La Liga. The Brazilian defender has been a constant threat for the Catalans, and a reason to be playing Champions League football next season.
As Matteo Moretto revealed to Football España, Couto's situation remains open as things stand, and it is too early to rule anything out. However, after a two-year loan at Girona, Manchester City is unlikely to work in the dynamics of the first team, unless something changes. It is more likely that Couto is sold, or could even return to Girona for a fourth campaign in five years, although it is not clear whether City will be able to loan players to Girona next season, due to the presence of the last in the Champions League.
Couto has appeared in 34 of 38 La Liga games this season, bagging 10 assists over the course of the La Liga campaign, making him the third most effective provider in Spain behind Villarreal's Alex Baena and Athletic Club's Nico Williams. He also earned his first call-up to the Brazilian team, and now has three caps – if City sell him, he should fetch a good price.
