Borussia Dortmund overcame Atlético Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the knockout stages, but were unable to get the better of Real Madrid in the Champions League final with the German side heading home empty handed.
Niclas Füllkrug almost put Borussia Dortmund in the lead, but his effort hit the post, while Karim Adeyemi and Marcel Sabitzer also came close. On another day, BVB could well have been 3-0 up, but they were made to rue missed chances with Real Madrid showing the killer instinct in the second-half with goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr.
Speaking after the game, via Ruhr Nachrichten, Terzić believes his Borussia Dortmund side “deserved more” following their first-half display. “We had the feeling that we had them,” added the 41-year-old.
“From the first second we showed the whole world that we believe that we are here to win a game.
“We did so many things right. The only difference is, they had that killer instinct, which we simply lacked.
“Then you see the quality they have. That’s why they are deservedly champions again.”
