'I had done it' – Wayne Rooney confesses to historic David Moyes prank while sitting on toilet

Wayne Rooney has declared himself the author of an infamous prank on David Moyes.

He 38 years He came through Everton's academy and was given his senior debut by Moyes at the age of 16 in 2002.

He spent two seasons under the Scot's tutelage before joining manchester united, where he became the club's top scorer.

And while moyes helped Rooney become one of the Premier League's (and England's) all-time greats, that didn't stop him from finding himself on the end of a cruel locker room prank.

speaking in sky betThe last episode of Stay with footballrecalled the incident, which left Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Ian Wright in stitches.

Rooney said: “So, yes, Moyesy ran off the training pitch.

“He desperately needed to go to the bathroom and ran straight to the first team locker room, which wasn't far from where you run in.

“(He was) directly in the bathroom and closed the door.

“And I knew what was happening, I could see them (his teammates) looking at me.

“I could see them filling the bucket. They said, 'There you go.' So I was like, fuck.

“So I went into the next cubicle, stood on the toilet and made a humming sound (pretends to pour a bucket).

“I ran out of there and got out of there.”

When asked by Wright if Moyes stormed out, Rooney revealed: “I was gone, I was gone.

“I had killed him, I left. I wasn't waiting for him to come out.”

Rooney and Moyes reunited in 2013 after the latter succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

But their second time working together did not end as planned, with Moyes replaced less than a year into the job and the club languishing seventh in the table after a 2-0 defeat in Everton.
