Six Premier League clubs must sell players before June ends to comply with the divison’s financial rules, according to a report.

June 30 is the final day of the financial year for the Premier League, with clubs having to submit their accounts.

If a club has lost more than £105million over three years – or less if they spent some time outside the top flight – they are in breach of the Profit & Sustainability Rules.

Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Everton, Nottingham Forest, and Leicester will all be under pressure to sell a player or two, as per Sky Sports News

The broadcaster claims that June 30 has in effect become a ‘mini transfer deadline day‘ which cause chaos for Euro 2024

The European Championship starts on June 14 and only ends on July 14, with the futures of players being decided in the group stages and early throes of the round of 16.

Clubs will only have a couple of weeks to do their business before then as the transfer window opens on the same day as the Euros kick off.

Players who can command a high fee or those who are homegrown and thus count as pure profit will be at particular risk.

For Aston Villa, Sky’s report lists Douglas Luiz, Ollie Watkins, and Matty Cash as candidates for the chop.

Arne Slot is reportedly an admirer of Watkins but Liverpool may have to spend somewhere in the region of £100m if they want to land Villa’s star goalscorer.

As for Chelsea, Conor Gallagher has long been seen as the chief candidate to be offloaded.

Mail Sport reported on Wednesday that Tottenham and Aston Villa are in a race to sign the £50m-rated academy graduate.

Meanwhile, Ian Maatsen is yet to decide on his Stamford Bridge future, with Borussia Dortmund keen on buying the Dutch left-back, who has a release clause of £35m.

Moving on to Everton, and three standout names emerge – Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Amadou Onana, and Jarrad Branthwaite.

These players’ names have done the rounds for some time and Sky Sports News claims they are the three players who can fetch interest and command the required fee.

Mail Sport has reported that the Toffees will not be bullied selling a star asset for a cut price, but they will realistically have to part with at least one prized asset. They have eight points deducted last season across two penalties.

Leicester are in a delicate situation, considering the fresh promotees could be given two points deductions on their return to the Premier League.

New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca is reportedly keen to replace Gallagher by signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from the Foxes, who he managed to the Championship title in 2023-24.

As for Newcastle, their chief executive Darren Eales warned in January that the club may have to let go of one of their diamonds in summer to meet financial regulations.

Eddie Howe has stated they have no intention of selling Alexander Isak, while Bruno Guimaraes has hinted he will stay by recently purchasing a £4m house in the North East.

Anthony Gordon has also been the subject of rumoured interest from Liverpool.
