“Sometimes he called me 'Arnie'! I hear that name.
“We in Holland would call me 'Arna', which is not easy to pronounce! So I also hear 'Arnie', but I prefer 'Arna'.”
Responding to the interviewer's joke, they would probably call him many different names. Liverpool Fans in the near future, Slot laughed: “As long as it is positive!”
The former Feyenoord coach has arrived to replace him. Jurgen Kloppwho left at the end of the season.
The German held his position for nine years, winning a Premier League and a Champions League and earning legendary status at Anfield.
Slot has big shoes to fill but says the advice he received from Klopp has stood him in good stead.
He said: “He gave me more than a few good pieces of advice, but I think what stood out to me the most was that he was very happy for me and that, and I think he said this in the media as well, he would be my biggest fan.” From now on because he supports Liverpool in the best way possible, and this is not seen very often.
“So it says a lot about his character, and also the way he handled this situation.”
