Arne Slot had fans chanting his name outside his home after Jurgen Klopp's show of support.
The Dutch coach, who previously coached Feyenoord, has take charge of Liverpool following Klopp's decision to leave the club at the end of the season.
While the German received a hero's farewell, Klopp made sure his farewell was as much for the incoming Slot as it was for him.
After his last game in charge, Klopp addressed Liverpool fans and said: “You welcome the new coach like you welcomed me. You do everything you can from day one. You continue to believe and push the team.”
Klopp then started singing “Arne Slotla la la la la” – to the tune of “Live is Life” by the Austrian group Opus – before the Liverpool The fans rallied.
After taking charge of the Reds, Slot was shown footage of the moment he was serenaded by fans and could be seen smiling once again.
Speaking to the Liverpool club's official channels, Slot said: “Right after it happened, I got a lot of text messages from people who saw this and sent them to me.
“Yes, this is one of the reasons why it is so popular here.
“Of course he won the trophies, but to do this for your successor, I don't think it happened before the fans, let alone the former coach, were chanting your name even before you arrived.
“I think this says more about him.
“Sometimes when I'm in Zwolle where I live, people come by my house and sing this song, so yeah, it's already had an impact.”
Slot's first game in charge of Liverpool will be a trip to Ipswich on Saturday, August 17, a match that will be broadcast exclusively live on talkSPORT.
