The doubt cast can be to increase more, like Brand have reported that Real Oviedo – who lost their La Liga promotion play-off against Espanyol at the weekend – have Marquez on their managerial shortlist, who will be consulted once Luis' planned move Carrion in Las Palmas is confirmed.

Carrion looks likely to succeed Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta in La Liga, and Marquez is well placed to take over his current job at Oviedo. Barcelona want him to continue as head of their branch, although he will certainly not stand in their way if there is an offer.

After failing to replace Xavi as Barcelona first manager of the team, Marquez may decide that his time is over this summer. It will be interesting to see if Oviedo come calling in the coming weeks – for now, they don't need to.
