I played against Mohamed Salah and Wayne Rooney, but Chelsea legend Eden Hazard was the toughest one I faced.
Ryan Bertrand has called Eden Hazard the toughest opponent he faced on the pitch.
Bertrand recently announced his retirement after a career that saw him win the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup with Chelsea.
The 34-year-old, who also played for Southampton and Leicester, has faced some of the best in the business at left-back.
Mohamed Salah, Wayne Rooney and Kevin De Bruyne are just some of the notable stars he faced, but it is Chelsea legend Danger Who is in first place?
When speaking exclusively with talkSPORT.com and they asked him about the toughest opponent of his career, he said: “I would probably say Hazard.”
“Playing against Hazard was probably difficult because of his low centre of gravity.”
Bertrand made 34 appearances alongside Hazard at Chelsea before leaving in 2015 and faced him nine times at Southampton.
Hazard became one of the most exciting players ever to pull on a Blues shirt during his superb seven-year spell at Stamford Bridge.
His dribbling, skill and vision of goal proved crucial for the Blues from 2012 to 2019 and contributed to their immense success.
The now-retired 33-year-old won two Premier Leagues, two Europa Leagues, the FA Cup and the League Cup, racking up 110 goals and 85 assists in 352 games.
A four-time Chelsea Player of the Year, he was also named PFA Premier League Team of the Year on four separate occasions.
After scoring two goals and assisting another in the Europa League final win over Arsenal in 2019, Hazard left Chelsea.
He joined Real Madrid on a £130million deal, but numerous injury problems prevented him from replicating his Blues form in Spain.
Despite this, he won two LaLiga titles, the Champions League, the Super Cup, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
