Manchester United may be forced to sell one of their brightest young talents this summer after failing to agree a new deal with Willy Kambwala. The 19-year-old centre-back rejected his latest offer.

The Franco-Congolese defender made 10 appearances Manchester United last season largely consisted of cameos but was impressive towards the end of the season against Liverpool. He has a year left on his contract, and Christopher Michel has said he is eyeing a move this summer.

There is interest in the teenager from France, Germany and Spain, and Michel's information is that Kambwala prefers a move to Spain over others. Kambwala came from French side Sochaux originally, United paid 4 million euros for him in 2020.

It is yet to emerge exactly where that interest comes from, although if he does leave United, it would presumably be one of Spain's top clubs, as it is unlikely that others would be able to afford it. Any club that wants to sign him will still have to negotiate a fee with United, and there is no suggestion they have given up on keeping him.
