Borussia Dortmund reached a full agreement with Serhou Guirassy earlier in the week, but the Guinean forward’s move to the Westfalenstadion hit a roadblock with the Stuttgart player failed his medical.
But this is something that happened previously, before securing a move from Lille to FC Köln in 2016. Back then, Köln reached an agreement with the French club but became aware of a “recoverable impairment” following a medical examination. For a lengthy time, Köln no longer wanted to pursue a transfer for Guirassy but as Kicker report, the then Bundesliga side re-negotiated a fee with Lille, from €5m to €3.8m, but had to do with the player for some time after undergoing an operation on his meniscus.
Back then Guirassy got his move to Germany, albeit delayed, and his failed medical ahead of a move to Borussia Dortmund has a sense of Déjà vu. As Kicker report, all parties want the move to happen, and Dortmund’s Hans-Joachim Watzke also made it clear that they want the move to go ahead.
After 30 goals in 30 games across all competitions, there’s hope that Guirassy will still get his move to Borussia Dortmund.
