Sky Germany reports that Manchester United have inquired about Bayer Leverkusen central defender Jonathan Tah, who has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich recently.
United are aware that no agreement between Bayern and Leverkusen has been reached over the transfer as Leverkusen continue to hold out for close to €40m for the mainstay of their defence.
On top of this, there is still no agreement between United and Bayern for defender Matthijs de Ligt. The Premier League side has yet to make a final offer for the defender as they look to reunite de Ligt with old manager Erik ten Hag.
It could be suggested that Tah could be an alternative to de Ligt, and possibly even cheaper as Leverkusen would be more open to selling to a team that is not a direct rival to themselves.
Tah’s contract at Leverkusen expires next summer and this is the last chance the club has to sell the 28-year-old as it looks increasingly likely that he will not be signing an extension at the BayArena.
