Borussia Dortmund have announced that they have completed the signing of striker Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart.
The striker joined for €18m, which was the price of the release clause in his Stuttgart contract and signs a deal at the Westfalenstadion until 2028.
On moving to Dortmund, Guirassy said: “When Borussia Dortmund asks, it’s something special. Every child in the world interested in football knows this club, knows the black and yellow jerseys, knows the Yellow Wall. I am very excited about all this, about my new teammates. And it is important to me to say: I came here to get titles. That’s my claim, that’s my drive. The club showed what is possible at BVB last year by reaching the Champions League final.”
The 28-year-old’s move to Die Schwarzgelben was originally in doubt after it was revealed he was suffering from an injury. However, a second medical exam showed that Guirassy does not need to undergo surgery to fix the issue, the striker will now undergo a programme to help him recover.
Last season was the best of Guirassy’s career as he scored 30 goals in 30 games as Stuttgart qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 14 years, whilst also reaching the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal.
The issue now for Dortmund is that they have four strikers. The arrival of Guirassy definitely puts the futures of Niclas Füllkrug, Youssoufa Moukoko and Sebastien Haller in doubt.
