Why nobody wants to sign Dani Olmo

It has recently been reported that a number of elite European clubs have been looking into the possibility of signing Dani Olmo this summer. On the list of clubs hopeful of luring the Euro 2024 winner away from RB Leipzig are the German record champions, Bayern Munich.

However, despite emphasising his desire to leave Saxony, Die Roten Bullen have yet to receive an offer for the 26-year-old.

As reported by Sky Germany, it is understood that Olmo’s injury record is currently putting off the Spaniard’s suitors.

While the €60 million release clause embedded in Olmo’s contract has now expired, it is believed that Leipzig would be looking to receive a similar fee for his signature should they sell him during this transfer window.

This means that a buyer would have to offer a fee, as well as a signing-on fee and an annual salary, leading to an overall package well in excess of €100 million. While the 26-year-old is undoubtedly a world-class talent, combining the package with his injury record makes a transfer away from Leipzig questionable this summer.
