Tottenham Hotspur has shown interest in Manchester United Midfielder Mason Mount on a possible transfer This summer, according to HITC.
The 25-year-old failed to secure a starting spot in Erik the Hag's team due to nagging injuries that caused the Englishman to participate in only 514 minutes of football in 14 games in the Premier league.
According to HITCten Hag has held lengthy discussions with the United hierarchy and Mount has been mentioned among the names for a possible exit this summer.
Tottenham have now shown interest in signing Mount and have held talks over a potential deal for the Portsmouth-born midfielder, according to the report.
However, the north London club face competition for the midfield ace, with HITC reporting that several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Newcastle United have shown interest in the £60m midfielder.
Rejuvenation under Postecoglou?
Less than a year ago, Mount was the poster boy for ChelseaCobham Academy and has become an indispensable figure since breaking into the first team under Frank Lampard in 2019.
He sealed a move to Manchester United last summer in what was perceived as a career-changing move from a struggling Chelsea side.
Unfortunately, the England international has been unable to secure a starting place in the team due to injuries that kept him out for 147 days in 27 games in all competitions last season.
With ten Hag in talks over a possible sale, it seems the club may have lost faith in him or he may not fit into their plans for next season.
Spurs have now expressed an interest in the midfielder to bolster their ranks and there is no better manager to get the best out of Mount than Ange Postecoglou.
The Australian coach has completely renewed the performance of Yves Bissouma, Dejan Kulusevski and Pape Matar Sarr, who performed remarkably last season.
That could be the case for Mount, but it remains to be seen how much United would value the midfield ace who was once hailed as a “magnificent player” by French star Kylian Mbappe.
