Borussia Dortmund and Olympique Lyonnais have an agreement in place for the transfer of Rayan Cherki, but the Frenchman’s move to the Westfalenstadion has stalled.
According to Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund would rather invest in strengthening at right-back, with the Bundesliga side currently working on a deal to sign Yan Couto from Manchester City, with an agreement in principle already in place. On loan at Girona last season where he excelled, the Brazilian is expected to cost Dortmund around €25m, adding to the money already spent on Waldemar Anton (€22.5m) and Serhou Guirassy (€18m).
Not only that, Sport Bild add that Dortmund’s management aren’t ‘100 percent convinced’ that Cherki would be the right addition for BVB. The 20-year-old scored one and created six in 33 Ligue 1 games in a troublesome season for Lyon last season.
However, with plenty of time left in the transfer window, you can never rule this one out. Cherki, who is in the final year of his contract, has already turned down an approach from Paris Saint-Germain, and has a preference to join Borussia Dortmund, who have an excellent track record with youngsters.
