Before the start of the summer transfer window, Sevilla only had two senior central midfielders: Djibril Sow and Joan Jordan. Only one (Sow) was in the plans of the head coach Francisco Javier Garcia Pimienta, so it was imperative that the signings were made in this department.
So far, sporting director Victor Orta has pulled. Albert Sambi Lokonga and Saul Niguez have joined from Arsenal and Atletico Madrid respectively, and will soon be joined by Lucien Agoume. The 22-year-old is set to sign for Sevilla on a permanent basis following his loan spell during the second half of last season.
Ace for ED, Sevilla will pay Inter Milan 8 million euros for 50% of Agoume's rights. They can acquire another 40% next summer, although they will have to pay another 4 million euros if they take this option.
The return of Agoume comes at a good time for Sevillewith Sambi Lokonga is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury. An agreement should be completed in the next few days.
