Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly held talks over a deal to sign AFC Bournemouth star Dominic Solanke this summer, according to Caught offside.
Following Harry Kane's departure to Bayern Munich last summer, the Lilywhites' centre-forward role was in a state of flux last season, with Son Heung-Min and Richarlison vying for the spot. But, while the South Korean looked more comfortable playing out wide, the Brazilian struggled with injuries.
So Spurs are reportedly planning to sign a new striker in this window and a few names have been mentioned as potential targets, with Solanke now the leading option.
According to the report of Caught offsideTottenham have begun talks with the player's representatives to find out the Englishman's position on whether he wants to sign him or not.
The report further claims that Ange Postecoglou's side are willing to submit a formal £42m offer to test Bournemouth's resolve, with the 26-year-old having a £60m release clause in his current contract.
Solanke to Tottenham
Solanke is open to leaving Bournemouth if he receives a lucrative proposal, so he could agree to join the Lilywhites if they formalise their interest.
However, Caught offside claims Solanke is not the only name on Postecoglou's wish list, with LOSC Lille star Jonathan David also on Spurs' radar to bolster their attack.
They have already held talks with the Canadian's agent over a possible move, so it seems that Spurs could try to sign him if they fail to reach an agreement with Solanke.
The Bournemouth star still has three years left on his contract and has already established himself as a talisman for the Cherries, so securing his signature will not be easy for Tottenham this summer.
The Englishman enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Premier league Last season he scored 19 goals and provided three assists in 38 games. The striker is fast, strong, good in the air, can finish his chances and also works very hard out of possession.
He is a talented player and could be a smart signing for Tottenham if they sign him. However, it will be interesting to see if the north London club manage to finally sign him before the end of this window to strengthen their attack.
