RB Leipzig enter race for Lyon’s Rayan Cherki

Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig have now entered the race for Lyon attacker Rayan Cherki as they prepare for the potential departure of Dani Olmo.

Cherki is one of the names on the list as a successor to Olmo, who has been linked with a move to former club Barcelona lately. Johan Bakayokok from PSV and Francisco Conceição of Porto are also of interest to Leipzig.

Leipzig have already held talks with Cherki while the price for the 20-year-old is likely to be around €15-20m. Dortmund are out of the running for Cherki as head coach Nuri Sahin has blocked any move for the attacker as feels there is no need for the 20-year-old in the squad.

Apart from the likely departure of Olmo, who spent a lot of last season injured, Leipzig have not suffered any major departures and for the first time in a while have kept the core of their squad after it was announced earlier today that Xavi Simons will stay at the club another year

This means that Leipzig could be in a good position to realistically challenge for the Bundesliga title this season.
