Athletic Club recall two key forwards for Atletico Madrid cup clash after injury scare
Athletic Club make the trip to the Spanish capital on Wednesday as they take on Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final. Los Leones will aim for a positive result to return to San Mames, where the second leg will be played on February 29.
Before the match, coach Ernesto Valverde called his team for the match at Civitas Metropolitano, and in this, there are two big impulses. The two Williams brothers – Inaki and Nico – were both substituted against Mallorca on Friday night after injury problems, and were not sure if they would be fit to face Atleti. However, both were included in the team of the match.

On top of that, Alex Berenguer is back, after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury. It means Valverde has an almost fully fit squad to choose from, with Inigo Lekue being the only absentee.
Athletic Club have all the tools to reach the final of the Copa del Rey, even if defeating Atleti in two legs will be extremely difficult. If they can do it, they would have an excellent chance of winning their first title in the competition in exactly 20 years.
