According to Florian Plettenberg, Dani Olmo’s transfer from RB Leipzig to Barcelona is almost a done deal.

Earlier in the transfer window, it had appeared as though Olmo would remain in Leipzig for the upcoming campaign, with no club willing to pay his €60 million release clause.

However, over the past few weeks, Barcelona have looked to secure the Spaniard’s signature.

While their first approach for the 26-year-old was rejected, it is understood that a deal could be finalised this week.

As stated in the report, Barcelona’s technical director, Deco, is in Leipzig today looking to get a deal for Olmo over the line, with head coach Hansi Flick said to be pushing for the midfielder’s signing.

With a deal looking ready to be completed, Leipzig’s new managing director, Marcel Schäfer, spoke about the possibility of the transfer going through:

“He is an outstanding player who holds significant value for us. We are ready to discuss it, but he has a certain value.”

“If there is a solution by Thursday, then there is a solution. Otherwise, he will join our training here, and we will have another top player in our ranks.”

It is believed that if Olmo is to leave Leipzig, Die Roten Bullen will target Lyon’s Rayan Cherki, who had been a target for Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer.
