Sport Bild (via @bvbnewsblog) reports that Borussia Dortmund youth striker Paris Brunner is on the verge of leaving the club as the two parties fail to reach an agreement on a new contract.
Dortmund had offered Brunner a new long-term contract but it is unlikely to be signed as the striker wishes to be involved with the first team when it comes to training and playing competitive matches. However, Dortmund would prefer Brunner to remain with the under-19s or under-23s for now.
The 18-year-old is attracting interest from Monaco. The principality side are yet to make an official bid for Brunner, which will likely be in the low single-digit million range, but when they do, Dortmund will not stand in Brunner’s way.
It is likely that Brunner will receive a long-term contract at the club but spent the first season on loan at sister club Cercle Brugge in Belgium.
Brunner has yet to make his senior debut for Dortmund but put up some impressive numbers in the under-19 league last season scoring 20 in 22 games for Dortmund. Last summer Brunner also won player of the tournament as Germany’s under-17s went on to win the World Cup for their age group.
